THE Perfect Gift

Title is from a movie I watched this past Saturday hosted on DayStar tv station.

It tells of how things have changed in this world regarding what Christmas is really all about.  Most everywhere you turn Christ is about Santa Claus bringing gifts (or presents) to every good little girl or boy.  The parents, grandparents, etc… have made a tradition of celebrating a very special day as something that has not more than a materialistic theme. Although I will grant they the day is mainly for family and close friends to gather and enjoy each other’s company.

Kris Kringle, also known as Santa Claus, (aka Saint Nick) was actually a bishop of the church in the 4th century who made visits to many and what is now called Christmas Eve.  He was credited with doing a number of miracles involving sailors and children and became the patron saint of both groups as well as for unmarried girls. In other words, St. Nick was a God-fearing man who loved God enough to show His love to so many around him.

But now we’ve made him extraordinary for doing exactly what he is suppose to do. ‘A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know you are my disciples, if you Love one another.’. – John 13:34-35.

The question is – do they know what Christmas is really all about? Do they care? The real reason is simply that “God came down for a visit.”  He was born to a young woman whom God had found favor with because of her devotion to God.  He was named JESUS.

Jesus Christ [God made flesh] came to us as a baby who grew to be a man. God spent 33 years with us as a man to show us how to love as He loved.

Now, wouldn’t this world be a different place is we could but just grasp this concept and put it into action not just some of the time BUT all the time. Wouldn’t it be something if we could make this kind love real in our lives? How much happier we’d be to be changed from the inside-out by God’s gracious and merciful love.

There is only one way to get to heaven. You can’t work yourself into God’s goodness nor can you buy your way in. You can’t even rationalize it with any superior intellect.  You can only enter heaven by an act of FAITH.

ACCEPT God’s extended hand of mercy and grace by BELIEVING Jesus Christ is the one and only true Son of God. CONFESS all your wrong-doing, even if it’s only in thought, to the only one who has the power to save us, Jesus.

My Savior bore my sins [past, present, future] on the cross where he died. My Savior was buried in a tomb sealed and guarded that no man could enter. BUT, my Savior rose from that death and the grave to be victorious over satan’s power her on earth.

Let Jesus become your Savior today of all days, the day proclaimed as the day of his birth. What could be the most Perfect Gift you can give yourself? Because when you do – THEN and ONLY THEN will you live in heaven as a true child of God forever.

Have a very, Merry Christmas remembering the real reason for the season. And don’t forget to tell Jesus Happy Birthday.

My love with Christ Jesus, my Lord

Government Shutdown

Now, what does that really mean?

To me, a shutdown is something that is completely turned off even if it is only temporary. That just means it has to be fixed. Because if it is a permanent shutdown then there’s no way of getting the thing to work ever again.

Maybe the “Government Shutdown” is something like a ‘Strike’? A Strike is where employees want something from their employer. But that means someone would have to negotiate terms of the contract as if in a union.

NO, that doesn’t sound right. I mean, how can the Government negotiate terms of their own contract? There is no one to be an objective observer to do that. So, it can’t be a Government Strike.

Also, union workers [or anyone else for that matter] on strike just don’t get paid. The employers are not known to be so generous to their employees if they aren’t working and earning their pay. They were hired for a reason, to be productive to their employer. That’s what they have to offer.

Does the “Government Shutdown” mean they won’t get paid for abandoning their job, their responsibility to serve the American people. How can you serve anyone if you’re not doing your job.

Really??? The GOVERNMENT is not hired to do a job. They are elected or nominated to do a job. These people in such high positions have a responsibility to all us little people to keep our country running as smoothly as possible. And it’s part of their job to make sure it does. Not to abandoned us to… What?

I don’t know about anybody else, but this sounds sort of petty to me.

I admit, I don’t understand or know what all this is about. I heard something about the healthcare plan. Whether that’s all of it or if there is more to it that we are not privy to doesn’t really matter.

What matters is the condition this “Shutdown” leaves our countrymen in. From the richer than richer to the poorest of poor, we are all affected in some way.

What goes through your mind when you heard that there was going to be a “Government Shutdown”?

How does that make you feel that the Government can shutdown for who knows how long?

Maybe the “Government Shutdown” is ???

I may not know what this is BUT GOD DOES. Pray for all these men and women in our government. They carry a heavy burden to do what is right for our country and not themselves.

Pray for any selfishness. All these people have such a great responsibility not to fuss and fight amongst themselves trying to get what they want.

Pray for guidance in all these situations and much, much more.

Pray for peace that they know without a doubt and are absolutely, 100% sure they are making the right and appropriate decisions for the United States of America.

My mind seemed cloudy as I struggled against something.
I kept blinking, the light was blinding. I was
shaking my head from side to side trying to focus on
things around me. Then I saw an antique desk in the

it. That was the desk given to me by a friend
after I had refinished it for her.

My eyes wandered as I turned my head to the other

In the reflection of the mirror, I saw something. A

Have been getting a lot of things sorted out lately. God is so good for showing me the way one day at a time. I’ve been thinking about possibly a good way for you to get to know my beliefs. I wrote a book, it was published and released a year ago. Although it is fiction – it tells a lot about who I am. Finishing the Race

“Life is like a race. You have a beginning and you have an end. And, in the middle, all you can do is the best you can and hope that you leave something worth it for all your trouble.”

This might not be verbatim but it’s close to something that I’ve heard before. Not sure what kind of philosophy that is, but it seems to me that there is a lot of truth in that statement. There will always be a beginning and ending to life no matter what; just no getting past that fact. It is true.

The real question to life is “in the middle“. Who am I? What am I going to do? What are my goals? What do I want to leave behind when I die, what kind of legacy? All very important questions which, I’m sure, most everyone has asked at some point in their life.

What has all these questions got to do with Finishing the Race?

To me, life is not a race but more of a marathon. The distance and time it takes are very different.

Let me tell you about someone that is very special to me. My uncle. He’s family. He passed away 2 weeks ago today after a very lengthy battle with cancer.

He left behind a loving and faithful wife. She was devoted to him for 60+ years (there about anyway). She cared for him in SICKNESS and in health. She stayed with him whenever the times where bad, not just the good. She is the mother of 2 loving children.

My uncle not only provided for his family, but LOVED his family. The measure of it shown on the faces of family and friends.

I may not have been as close to my uncle to say exactly who he was or exactly what he did his entire life. During my briefs visits I know that he was a man of God. His belief and trust in our Lord was shown to me each time.

Hebrews 12: 1 — Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

I believe my uncle ran this type of race for God and he has now finished his race while all those who loved him have yet to finish. I believe my uncle stood before God to rejoice in His Words, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

That’s what I want when it’s time for me to meet Him face to face. But until I do, I will rejoice with my uncle in Heaven. He has no more pain, no grief of any kind. He sits at the banquet table to feast with Jesus. What better ending can there be?

Matthew 7:7-8Asked and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

May God Bless You All!!!!

Strength in Numbers vs.

We all know what that means… a lot of …… people? With a lot of people on your side you can accomplish just about anything you want to. Most of these people are family and friends. They are the most supportive if they believe in what you are saying you are going to do. They are more supportive if you actually do as you say. They give you all the backing you need to succeed, whether it’s money or just a shoulder for moral support. They are there for you. Take care you don’t abuse or neglect such a support system. They are invaluable to everyday life.

What about a lot of …… money? With a lot of money you can buy just about any material possession your little heart desires. A new home, new car, new clothes, you can even dine out every night or hire someone to cook your every meal. You can even buy all the toys in the store for yourself, your spouse, and your kids. But is that enough?

You CAN’T buy your health if it declines faster than the doctor can treat it. We hear about cancer all the time. There is no cure. I have RA [rheumatoid arthritis] which is a debilitating disease in your joints that can affect major muscles.  There is no cure. I have friends who have MS [multiple sclerosis] which is another debilitating disease. There is no cure. NO MONEY CAN BUY YOUR HEALTH, it can only aid.

You CAN’T buy your happiness either unless you are one of those people who thinks it really can. My guess is that it is only a temporary happiness but it soon becomes “not enough”. There is something that just doesn’t seem right so you go buy something else. Are you spending your money wisely? Maybe, or maybe not. That’s not for me to say.

You CAN’T buy love either. You CAN’T buy friends. I’m sure that there are a lot of people who seem to come out of the woodwork like cockroaches when the word gets out that you have money. They may claim to be your very best friend and even love you. But, should you happen to fall and run out of money for whatever reason, do they stick around to see you through those hard times?

IF the answer is YES then you have people around you that will support you through thick or thin. They are the people to trust because they have shown their love and friendship. Keep them and discard the rest.

These are the Strength in Numbers that are necessary for our emotional survival. And if you are perceptive enough to see, these are the people that God has sent to you. These Numbers can give you Strength in Character.

What is Character? HonestyIntegrityLoyaltyLove… A character that does not fear to speak the truth in love no matter if you agree or disagree. A strong character will ask “How are You?” and really want to know. A strong character will tell you that something isn’t right about you and you won’t take offense.

I still have a hard time with people taking offense to something I’ve said or done even though I don’t know what it is. It’s just a feeling I get sometimes because I’m not easily offended myself. I’m really a pretty easy-going old gal. And I’m just simple-minded enough to believe that most people are basically pretty decent until they prove me wrong. There have only been a handful of times that I got the heeby-jeebies when I met someone. I guess you might say ‘a danger signal’. Those are the people I stay away from.

Back on tract – Strength in Numbers is really good. BUT, Strength in Character is even better.  Our trials, our hardships, our tough times all build character. You must decide how you want your character to be. Will you let it all get you down never to rise again? OR will you let it build you into a better person?

I chose the latter. I chose to be the best woman God wants me to be. I chose to get out of bed every morning and thank my God for another day of living. I chose to have a life worth living for me and my kids and for the rest of the world to see.

By the saving grace of Christ Jesus, I have an abundant life to live no matter the hardships that arise. For I know that I am blessed and this season in my life will not last forever. Seasons (like friends) come and go… God is eternal.

May God Bless you every day. Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Who am I?

What an interesting question. Have you ever asked yourself “Who am I?

I have, and on several different occasions at different times in my life. I can tell you that I am a middle aged daughter, sister, mother of 4, grandmother of 3,  and an ex-wife. That’s right. I’m divorced.

That’s who I am in this real world on planet Earth. But is that all that I am? Absolutely not. I am also an author and writer of A Call Home [http://www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore/book.php?w=978-1-61862-977-7]. And I used to work outside my home while raising my children. I was an Administrative Assistant then an Accounting Clerk. Now I am a blogger.

WAIT, that’s not all. I am a follower of Christ Jesus, the one and only Son of God; my Lord and Savior. Does that make me a Christian? Does it make me a Disciple?

Acts 11:25-26Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

I guess that would make me both.

Did you know (at least, according to my Bible) that there are more scriptures for Disciples than there are for Christians?

The first 12 were Andrew, Bartholomew, James, John, Judas, Matthew, Matthias, Nathanael, Paul, Peter, Philip, Simon, Thaddaeus, and Thomas whom we know as the Apostles of Jesus. He called them disciples in Matthew 10:1. (I can never remember all those names so I had to look them up.)

Also in John 8:31 and 15:8 Jesus expresses what it really means to be his disciple.  Follow his commands and love everyone as God loves us. – Not an easy task. There are just some people in my life that I find it so very difficult to love in any way, shape or form. Do you know anyone like that?

I have found that if I pray for that person and ask God to love them through me, it happens. I have also found that I need to pray consistently for his love to be able to love that person at that particular time because something has happened that makes me not want to love that person. Make sense? I hope so, but if not you can always say so.

To be a follower of Jesus you must know him as your personal Savior. You must accept and believe He is the Son of God and confess you sins for he can and will forgive you all your sins; past, present, future. You must develop a personal relationship with him by getting to know him. You must accept that he is the only true way to God so you won’t be condemned to eternity in hell.

The catch?! Just tell everyone you know, everyone you meet, the Good News of Jesus Christ.

God Bless you all!

Called to Duty

There are more than a single way to Be Called to Duty

For instance, I was recently summoned to jury duty. Personally, I think it to be an honor to be able to service the County and State in which I live. And to actually serve on a jury can be an extreme event in your life. It’s deciding the fate of a defendant, whether or not the State has provided enough evidence to really convict this person beyond that reasonable doubt. Of course, the other side tries their absolute best to put any and all kind of doubt in your mind. It can be a a if you don’t stick strictly to the facts of the case in which you serve.

Of course, the most common way to Be Called to Duty is in the military. If I wasn’t over 50 I might seriously consider military service now that my kids are all grown. But I wish they would consider it more carefully than they have.

I pray all the time that my children will learn to make the right decisions in their lives. Especially when it comes to serving God.

Yes, you can Be Called to Duty by serving God in so many different ways. We all have to find what way that is. Some may be called to be Godly parents and teach their children about the ways of God. In other words, how to be more like Jesus.

As a Christian, even though we stumble and fall so many times on this road, we still need to strive to set ourselves above the sin we fall into. Does that make sense?

We have choices or decisions to make each and every day of our lives. Some are good, some are not so good, and some are bad. How do we constantly make the right decisions? Simple. We pray and ask God to lead the way. In a nutshell, that’s what a true follower of Jesus Christ is to do.

I know that I have sort of rambled on and not really making a point.

The point is… To serve on a jury you deliberate according the to instructions given by the judge who is presiding over the case. You do what you are told to do.

The point is… To serve in the military you are given orders by your superiors who are also given orders to follow. You do what you are told to do.

The point is… To serve in employment you are given certain duties by your boss that apply to your position. You do what you are told to do.

The point is… Why should it be any different when you are Called to Serve God. You do what you are told to do. And all you instructions are in the Bible.  Let the Spirit of Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, lead you through scripture and prayer.

May God Bless You Today and Every Day.

Easter is coming!

Yeah!! Hooray!! Easter is coming!!  Just what we need, another holiday that brings so much happiness to children (wherever this is celebrated) because they get to indulge in candy once again. Have you seen the Easter Baskets they have in the stores? They have enough chocolate and assorted hard candies that could keep a child on a sugar high for over a week.  Now, it’s that the way to promote ADD (or is it ADHD)  in anyone? And I mean anyone. Do you really let your child eat all that scrumptious candy all by themselves. Of course not. They have to learn to share, right? But, that’s OK because they build up that appetite when they go on the hunt for Easter Eggs that you dyed or painted earlier in the week.

Sounds like I have ADD, you know, ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER, doesn’t it?

The amazing thing is though, that this sort of celebration really doesn’t have anything to do with Easter. You know why? Because most people (even on Google) claim Easter is to celebrate our Resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ.

Fascinating what you can find on the internet when you just search “Easter“. Considering most of what I found had to do with celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ I had to wonder, so where did the Easter bunny come from and what has he got to do with Jesus?

I wasn’t really surprised to find out it actually was a pagan holiday to celebrate Springtime and the bunny was a sign of fertility since it multiplies so rapidly. But to celebrate Spring?

Spring is the season of new life. Trees come back from the dead. Flowers and plants start blooming from seeds that have been planted. Grass gets greener.

As a Christian, I choose to celebrate EASTER when Jesus Christ went willingly to Calvary just so he could be a living sacrifice for my sins as well as yours; past, present and future. The Scriptures state that on the third day He rose from the grave. The stone that covered his tomb was rolled away and He was not there. The four gospels of the New Testament [Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20] document this wonderful story of Jesus Christ rising from the grave.

So, how do you celebrate your Easter tradition? Is it just in the secular way with Easter Egg Hunts and candy? Do you celebrate with family and friends? By the way, you really shouldn’t need any excuse to do that. Every day should be a celebration with those we love for every day brings new life in one form or another.

Jesus Christ has brought new meaning to my life in more ways than I could ever count. My life is not perfect, nor will it ever be as long as I live here on this earth. But one day I will stand before God’s throne praying He will tell me “Well done good and faithful servant.”

He bids you come just as you are to live one day in paradise known as Heaven.

A Day Late and A Dollar Short

Ever feel like that, like you’ve missed something spectacular because you didn’t do what you should have done when you knew you should have done it??????

Boy… I have, and too many times to count. You know, hindsight really is 20/20.

I have been going through my Master Life Study again [not the first time either] and every day I get it out I read all the scripture memory verses from the beginning to where I am in the study. I didn’t get very far yesterday when I read the very first verse…

LUKE 9:23 – Then he said to them all,If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

THIS after reading a posting by A DEVOTED LIFE on wordpress.com (which, by the way, his blogs are awesome) stopped me in my tracks to ask, “What does it mean?” I just couldn’t continue to I found out exactly what it meant to me.

In the notes section of my NIV Study Bible it meant to follow Jesus requires self-denial, complete dedication, and willing obedience. It also referenced this same verse was in Matthew 16:24 and Mark 8:34.

MARK 8:34   [my personal preference] – Then he called to the crowd to him along with his disciples and said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

Notes:    ‘deny himself’ Cease to make self the object of his life and actions.

take up his cross’ The picture is of a man, already condemned, required to carry the beam of his own cross to the place of execution. [John 19:17 – Golgotha – The Skull] Cross-bearing is a willingness to suffer and die for the Lord’s sake.

and follow me’ Implying that Jesus’ own death would be by crucifixion.

But I didn’t stop there either. I went on to Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary to substantiate the meanings.

CROSS    4. Any suffering, trial, or tribulation.

BEAR       13. To be able to withstand18. To endure patiently.

DENY       5. Disown – refuse acknowledgement.   DENY ONESELF   to refuse oneself a gratification.

FOLLOW   6. To be under the leadership of9. To take as a model; imitate.

So what’s all this got to do with being A Day Late and A Dollar Short? Simple. Don’t wait. When you truly desire to follow Jesus Christ because He Is Your Saviour, because He Is Your Lord, because He Is the prime example of a true servant of God; don’t procrastinate in doing what you know God wants you to do.

I should have posted this yesterday but I had other things that I wanted to get done. So I stopped to do them and never got back to this. I missed a blessing although I don’t know what. All I know is that I feel like I failed at something one more time. This is a ploy from Satan.

Don’t let him be victorious in any battle of guilt because Jesus already won the war for my soul and yours when we accepted him as the one and only Son of God. When we believed he was the only way to Heaven. We confessed our sins then and now and in the future because I don’t know when the end will come. BUT it will come and I would rather LIVE in paradise with GOD than be condemned to Hell for eternity.

Every day I MUST pray for forgiveness and for guidance in my life to be the Christian Woman GOD wants me to be. It is a daily thing that I deny myself the things I want. It is a daily thing that I am willing to suffer any trial. It is a daily thing that I acknowledge Jesus as my leader whom I want to imitate.

I most definitely want the peace of knowing how much he loves me and cares for me. There is nothing in this world that is greater than the one who lives in me.

Don’t procrastinate any longer. Don’t come up A Day Late and A Dollar Short. Jesus bids you come just as you are.

[I would like to apologize. I thought I published this on March 17th]

I hope Everyone has had a good day and hopefully don’t over-indulge tonight during your festivities. I know today has always been a day of celebration but I can honestly tell you, I really never knew why. At least, not that I remember.

So I decided that today, of all days, I wanted to find out the “History of St. Patrick”. This is what I found out. And you can too no matter what search site you may like best you are sure to find out plenty. Of course, that’s only if you interested.

National Geographic, The Holiday Spot, GPB Education, Wikipedia, eHow are websites that share these facts about St. Patrick –

Saint Patrick (Latin: Patricius; Proto-Irish: *Qatrikias;[2] Modern Irish: Pádraig;[3] Welsh: Padrig;[4] c. 387 – 17 March c. 460[5] or c. 492[6]) was a Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the “Apostle of Ireland”, he is the primary patron saint of the island along with Saints Brigid and Columba.

St. Patrick was not Irish as he was born in another country, maybe Scotland or Wales (unsure). [only Ehow.com states that he was the son of a Christian Deacon.] He was taken captive at age 16 from his home to be a slave in Ireland. After 6 or 7 years (consensus is 6) he escaped and made his way back to his home. He later went to a French Monastery where he returned (or was converted) to Christianity. After becoming a Cleric he returned to Ireland to start about God’s plan, converting all Ireland to “Catholicism by incorporating their religious symbols into their understanding of Christianity.”

”The shamrock was a sacred plant to the Irish pagans because it symbolized the rebirth of spring. As Christianity flourished, the shamrock came to incorporate ideas of the Holy Trinity, as well. Later, under the oppression of the English who outlawed Irish language and Catholicism, wearing the green shamrock was a symbol of heritage and pride. Today, the shamrock is still a symbol of Ireland and donning green clothing stands as a substitute for pinning the little three-lobed leaf to your shirt.”

“The common myth is that St. Patrick rid Ireland of snakes. In truth, there were not in snakes in the island to be rid of. The “snakes” of the legend are actually a reference to the Druids of the old pagan religion that had once pre-dominated all Celtic lands. A nickname for these priests was “adder,” a type of snake.”

Saint Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17, the date of his death.[12] It is celebrated both inside and outside Ireland, as both a religious and, especially outside Ireland as a secular holiday. In the dioceses of Ireland, it is both a solemnity and a holy day of obligation; outside Ireland, it can be a celebration of Ireland itself.”

“However, some modern Pagans refuse to observe a day which honors the elimination of the old religion in favor of a new one. It’s not uncommon to see Pagans wearing some sort of snake symbol on St. Patrick’s Day, instead of those green “Kiss Me I’m Irish” badges. If you’re not sure about wearing a snake on your lapel, you can always jazz up your front door with a Spring Snake Wreath instead!”

“Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early seventeenth century and is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion (especially the Church of Ireland),[2] the Eastern Orthodox Church and Lutheran Church. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland,[1] as well as celebrating the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.[3] Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, céilithe, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks.[4] Christians also attend church services[3][5] and the Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol are lifted for the day, which has encouraged and propagated the holiday’s tradition of alcohol consumption.[3][4][6][7]

NOTE: The above quotes were taken directly from various websites.

As you can see I used a lot of what was on the internet. I especially liked when St. Patrick used the Shamrock to explain the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And I love the fact that St. Patrick is NOT in a class all by himself. You can name several great men that are from the Bible known as saints in our eyes.

BUT, did you know you can add you name to that list you might be thinking of now. For ONE – When you become one of God’s children through the saving grace of His Son, Jesus Christ, you ARE one of His Saints. For TWO – Whenever you spread the Good News of Jesus Christ you are a Christian Missionary.

So when you count those famous men and women of the Bible, don’t forget yours.

May God reign down His blessings of peace upon you for His Grace is sufficient.
